## Who it was for
A national purchasing organization that needed to prove its members were saving money on their contract pricing.

## What was broken
Members only learned whether they were paying contract prices after pulling a monthly supplier report and comparing it to their agreed pricing by hand. It was slow, and supplier prices moved with market conditions, so the comparison was often stale before it finished.

## What we built
A procurement agent trained inside each member's environment. It connected read-only to their ERP and supplier accounts and checked spend line by line, SKU by SKU, against contracted pricing. It flagged off-contract and maverick spend and showed procurement leaders which contract each item should move onto. A learning loop kept pricing current on both sides as it changed. It ran across five categories: maintenance repair operations, office supplies, small parcel, information technology, and waste management.

## How we connect safely
1. Read-only by design. A dedicated service account with read-only permission on only the tables or reports needed.
2. Your credentials. You create the account and can revoke it. OAuth or narrow-scope tokens where the system supports them.
3. Least data. Only the fields needed: SKU, quantity, unit price, supplier, date.
4. Locked-down transport. Encrypted connections. For an on-premises ERP, a route you approve (VPN, IP allowlist, or a scheduled secure export). Secrets in a vault, never in code or email.
5. Audit trail. Every pull is logged and visible to you. A person approves anything that changes a recommendation.
6. Easy exit. Revoke the account and access ends. Data is deleted or returned on request.

- ~18 min average per analysis
- 2× faster maverick-spend tracking than the manual process

- Each analysis is one member's spend checked line by line against contracted pricing.
- Twice as fast is measured against the manual process it replaced.
